Responding to footage of Phil Foden’s deft touch against Aston Villa during Manchester City’s third successive Carabao Cup win, many Sky Blues supporters haven’t been able to stop purring over the youngster who went on to become their Man of the Match at Wembley.
Foden, who has started just two Premier League games for City this season whilst making a flurry of appearances off the bench, shined in the final – scoring the highest SofaScore rating (7.8) out of all his starting teammates. As well as this, the teenager also registered a 90% pass accuracy playing on the right hand side – a position usually held by either Bernardo Silva or Riyad Mahrez. Once lauded as having ‘world class potential’ by the Manchester Evening News, swathes of fans have responded to footage of the player on Twitter, with many Sky Blues supporters continuing to rave over Foden’s touch.
The Englishman, faced with a long diagonal ball courtesy of Oleksandr Zinchenko, took the ball down with ease and proceeded to probe the Villa penalty area.
